At the beginning of 1914, he sold nearly 10,000 acres of land in the tract Petersburg Stock Company P.V. Baranovsky. Then here unfolded construction of a large powder factory. While Russia has participated in the First World War, the powder was vital. Construction of the factory lasted for about two years, a record time for this type of construction.

To factory has been placed and the narrow-gauge railway and was built barracks of the military, which dealt with the protection of factory area around its perimeter.

Already in the 30s of the last century, the factory became the initiator of the development and implementation of a powder production of wood pulp, the creator of new technological regulations and the place where for the first time in our country started to produce collodion (cellulose nitrate) used for the production of plastics, celluloid, nitrovarnishes, nitroenamels , smokeless gunpowder, dynamite and other explosive products.

In October 1941, when the front line closer to Moscow, according to the decision of the State Defense Committee, equipment of Roshal Chemical Factory was evacuated to the city of Rezh Sverdlovsk region. In 1942, the equipment has been returned to its original location, the plant reopened.
